HDD image onto SSD disk

Yes, but if it has to create or resize partitions, it will not align it a way that is the best for SSD. If you create the partition first in windows, its alignment will be kept.

Just to clarify, If I create a partition first, and then restore an Acronis Image back onto that partition, then that will work?

Do I need Windows in order to create that partition or could I use another Disk Administration application.

I have both Acronis Disk Director 10 and Paragon Partition Manager 11 Professional Edition, both usable from a separate boot CD.

Because of Disk sector alignment, create the partition using your Windows 7 Disk Management.
