How would I go about cloning a drive from my laptop onto my desktop, then transferring that onto a new campaign that will go into my computer?  I do not have Acronis on any of the systems than my desktop, and I still wish to make this transfer.  Thank you.

Hello John.

Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. We appreciate your interest in seeking assistance regarding cloning a drive and transferring it to a new computer.

However, we would like to clarify that this forum is primarily dedicated to addressing queries related to Acronis products and services. While we are happy to provide guidance and support for Acronis-related topics, we may not be able to offer comprehensive assistance for tasks that involve external software or hardware configurations.

For your specific scenario, where you wish to clone a drive from your laptop onto your desktop and then transfer it to a new computer, we recommend exploring options such as using third-party cloning software or consulting relevant documentation or support resources provided by the respective operating systems or hardware manufacturers.

If you have any questions or concerns related to Acronis products or need assistance with any Acronis-related tasks, please feel free to ask, and we'll be glad to help you.

Thanks in advance!

John, welcome to these public User Forums.

What version of Acronis do you have on your desktop computer?

What do you mean by transferring the laptop drive (clone) on to a new campaign?

What OS is your laptop running?  What BIOS boot mode does it use, and is this the same mode as used by your desktop PC?

Note: run the msinfo32 command in Windows then look at the BIOS mode value shown in the right panel of the output report.  Most newer laptops / PC's should show as UEFI for the BIOS mode.

One initial option that you can consider is to create Acronis bootable rescue media on your desktop PC then try booting the laptop from that media to confirm that the offline Acronis application can see the internal laptop drive, and creating a Backup image of that drive on to an external storage drive (on USB).

Once you have created a backup image of the laptop drive, you can access that image on the desktop and potentially use it later to recover to another computer, though there are a number of considerations that you should be aware of before doing such an action!
